The Illustrations of Charlene Chua

©Charlene ChuaToday, we’re heading to Singapore to meet Charlene Chua, also going under the name of “Sygnin”. Charlene’s vector-based illustrations have appeared in various local as well as international publications such as Silver Kris magazine, Asian Diver magazine, FHM Singapore and CLEO Singapore. She is also a contributor to the book Freewave (published by Booth Clibborn Editions, United Kingdom).

As she herself says it, Charlene Chua tries to tell a story through all of her illustrations, especially when it comes to her workpieces. Albeit she has studied visual communication at Temasek Pilytechnic, she is mostly self-taught, and prooves that experience and exploring by oneself the vast areas of illustration can wield pretty good results. Her characters—among which a lot of girls, since she admits having a liking to drawing them—are often vibrant with colors and dynamic expressions. A good range of her illustrations can currently be seen on her website, http://www.charlenechua.com.
