Jon C. Lund
The point got raised on Drawn! about whether Jon C. Lund does all of his works in Illustrator only, or polishes them in another software (this due to a certain grainy quality that is part of his style). Nevertheless, given that his pictures, simple and strong all at once, are either completely or mostly composed of vectors, he fits right into the kind of artists I want to present on this blog. To top it all, his website has a nice and interesting layout, albeit not one of the most fast-loading ones.

Asked about this on Drawn, couldn’t work out how he did it then but I may have worked out how its done now – you can get an effect like this with multiple blends of circles and clipping masks – also use Object>Transform> Transform Each and make small movements with Random on to get a dirty look to the grain.
Whatever the solution, these are great images so hats off to Jon C. Lund!

Thanks for your comment, Geezer. There must be indeed a few ways to obtain a similar effect (I must admit that I haven’t looked into it yet, but what you wrote here may indeed work well). Whatever his method, I agree: great images!
